I support preparing students for their future through opportunities such as:
*First year freshmen and sophomore students participated in JROTC program.
*Formation of Academies for the upcoming school year in the following areas:
Business, Criminal Justice & Law, Health & Medical, Media & Communication.
*Continued support of the Associates Degree in Professional Studies through Early College Program in Partnership with Bergen Community College. Allowing students to earn college credits while in HS.
*Eager to implement opportunities for vocational trade training to encourage and support students looking to pursue a trade certification/licensing after HS.
*Excited to see the construction of School #5 progress from initial plans! Eager for future school improvements to help minimize the effects of overcrowding.
*Supportive of state-of-the-art technology & hardware for the district.
*Respect & support for teacher and staff roles equally, by maintaining level-headed decision making to district changes, evident by my independent “NO” vote to teacher health benefit changes!
Advocate for Increasing NON-TAXPAYER Revenue
Committed to creating & advocating for opportunities to be fiscally responsible:
*Obtain grants, monetize facilities and engage in cost-saving utility programs.
*Supporting and maintaining State of Good-Repair of Facilities.
*Implementation of the newly formed Cooperative (CUPA), utilizing program savings & securing profit potentials to offset tax impact.
Demonstrated forward thinking & decision making evident by:
*Persistant in recommending a legal sized FIFA soccer field for potential revenue opportunities.
*1st time Capital Reserve accounts have been formed for funding of future needs (i.e. building & athletic field maintenance)
While continuing to work hard to efficiently use Federal & State funds
to minimize impact to Garfield taxpayers!
